Frequently Asked Questions...
How long does it take to sand and varnish my floor? This is generally dependent on the size of the room and the quality of the floor. But a standard 5m x 4m room would usually take around 8-10 hours to sand and varnish. What should I use for my floor? Different woods require different solutions. A hard wood floor can be oiled or lacquered. We use a water based solution of lacquers. Which offers a faster drying time and is also better for the environment as it water based. Does it cause a mess? All machinery we use is made by Bona and is 98% dust free. But we still cover all apertures with sheeting to ensure little or no migration of dust. How long before I can walk on it? The water based products generally take around 3 hours to dry. It can take up to 4 days to fully harden. How many times can I sand my wood floor? A solid floor can be sanded as many times as you like. An engineered wood floor can be sanded 3 times, we dont advise any more. Should I consider filling the gaps between my floor boards? This is a good idea if you are keen to eliminate drafts. We use slivers if gaps are over 2mm wide, sawdust and a resin mixture if smaller. Who will carry out the work? Once you have made an enquiry we will then make an appointment for one of our team to come out and do a site visit. We can bring samples for you to look at and possibly give you a quote right away.
